Weekly Wednesday Snap | Sprout Hair

Hi World!

Don't know what a Weekly Wednesday Snap is? Click HERE.

A short and sweet post today, folks. Please enjoy this snap of me and what I'm calling my "sprout hair." Alternate names include "fountain hair" or "palm tree hair." I sent this to a couple of my friends on Snapchat after realizing that my hair resembled the sprout emoji. A good look, no?

I'm now on summer break and I've just been chillin' at home. As you can see from my look above, my hair is getting pretty long. I usually cut my hair around 3 times a year, so this is normal. I grow it out  for months and then cut most of it off, which "restarts my cycle." I want to cut my hair for summer, but I also don't. Maybe I'm just too lazy to go get it cut. My best friend wants me to grow out my hair so that I can rock a man bun. I'm not that opposed to it. Currently, I can only tie the top layers of my hair. If I try to tie all of it into a ponytail, half of it just falls out due to my bottom layers. I've actually had my hair really long before, though. If you delve deep enough into my Instagram, you'll find some pictures of me with my long, luscious locks. The longest I'm willing to grow it, at this point, is until I start school again in August. We'll see though. The main reason I cut my hair is because it gets annoying, but I'm fine right now. Long hair makes dancing more fun. Stay tuned.

How's your hair looking today?

Weekly Wednesday Snap | Studying For Finals

Hi World!

Don't know what a Weekly Wednesday Snap is? Click HERE.

Apologies in advance, today's snap isn't the most interesting picture. I haven't done too much lately and seeing as its finals week for me, I've been studying... but mainly yesterday and today. C'mon, you know you do the same when it's time for exams. Anywho, I took this snap today when I was studying for a history final. I usually rewrite my notes to study or make some sort of an outline if it's an essay and I know what the prompt is. Today I had three finals, which I didn't anticipate when I was making my spring semester schedule last year. One for geology (rocks on rocks on rocks), one for history, and one for comm. My school posts the final exam schedule in advance, but I never thought to check it when I was signing up for classes.

All of my finals are now over though, which is awesome. I guess that's the nice part about having all of your finals on the same day. You just get them over with. But it is a bit exhausting having to worry about getting from one final to the next, and trying to get in some last minute studying. I feel like I passed all of my classes this semester. Maybe not all As, but I think I did okay on my finals.

If it's finals week for you too, or you're going to take them soon, good luck! If you already took yours, I hope they went well!

Story Time | Meeting Leroy Sanchez

Hi World!

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have already seen this post of me and Leroy Sanchez. And if you saw my April Favorites, you know that he was one of them.

Whether or not you've seen either, it's story time! A while ago, around January/February, I purchased Justin Bieber's "Purpose," which included the song, "The Feeling" featuring Halsey. Now if you've been following me these past couple months, you'd know that I love Halsey. Anywho, I was walking back from dinner with my friend Rachel one night and I started talking about Halsey and some of her songs. "The Feeling" was one of them and I told her to check out some Halsey's music.

Flash forward to April 19 (I'm checking my texts right now), Rachel texted me, "OMG IM OBSESSED WITH THE SONG THE FEELING BY JUSTIN BIEBER AND HALSEY lol" and I freak out, naturally. She then proceeds to ask me if I had seen a cover of the song by Leroy Sanchez and Jessica Sanchez (no relation). I had not, so I clicked on the video and loved the cover. I included the video in my April Favorites, but if you haven't seen it, check out the video below and then check out his channel.

After watching the cover and enjoying the sound of his voice, I decided to check out his channel and sample his other covers. I watched so many. Needless to say, I was instantly obsessed. He has a really nice voice with a good range that's capable of some awesome vocal runs.

On April 29, 10 days after getting the initial text from Rachel and it changing my life because I just kept listening to his voice and watching his videos, I'm walking to Starbucks with a friend and I see THIS.

I had to do a double take. My friend who was with me at the time didn't know who he was or why I was having some sort of mental breakdown, so I had to recollect myself and text Rachel and my best friend about it. What are the chances that 10 DAYS after I start watching his videos, I find a sign saying that he would be performing AT MY SCHOOL. My only issue with this was the time. This semester, I have a class from 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM and his set goes from Noon - 1 PM. I seriously considered skipping class for his set. I always go to class, so this was obviously a big deal. Ultimately, I did end up going to class, but as the picture at the beginning of this post indicates, I was able to see him! I frantically texted Rachel before my class, who wanted to see him too, asking her to take pictures and video/get something signed for me just in case I couldn't make it. Luckily, that wasn't necessary.

After my class ended, I power walked my way down to where he was performing, found Rachel, and was able to catch the last 10 minutes of his set, where he performed a medley of songs that included, "Dear No One" by Tori Kelly and "Love On Top" by Beyonce, among others. He was incredible, my ears were blessed by his voice, and all was well. After he finished his set, I was wondering if we were going to be able to meet him. I watched the crowd and as a line started forming, I saw people start to take pictures and talk to him. Another issue arose though... I had a big exam at 2 PM and his set ended around 1 PM. I had an hour. We were towards the end of the line, so I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to meet him and make it to the exam on time, so I had a quite a bit of anxiety over it. I still had Rachel as my back-up plan, but her phone was dying. *stress* It took roughly an hour before we finally got to meet him, but it happened!

Here's a snap that Rachel took when me and Leroy hugged. He gives good hugs, in case you were curious. She met him first and asked him to sing part of "The Feeling" with her. You can see that on her Instagram, which I tagged in my Instagram post. She's a really good singer too. Side note: I really liked his hat and his jacket. His outfit in general too.

This is the original picture of the one that I posted before I edited it for lighting and place it in square format. Even though Instagram allows you to post pictures without the square restriction, I still like to keep them in the square orientation. Anywho, I zoomed in for the square to  take away any random objects and then tweaked the lighting/used filters. The lighting was really bad where we were, but hey, I still met him and that's all that matters. I sacrificed a bit of clarity and photo quality on the one that I posted, but I think it looks fine.

But yeah, I met Leroy Sanchez. I told him I loved his voice and that he had a great show. He was great. Everything was good. After we took the pictures, I sprinted off to take my test! (which I passed. Woot!)

Do you have any fun stories of when you met a celebrity and/or Internet person! Tell me in the comments below!

Weekly Wednesday Snap | Oceanside Views

Hi World!

Don't know what a Weekly Wednesday Snap is? Click HERE.

Last weekend, I went home for Mother's Day and had a lovely time. To get back to school, I took the train from the Oceanside station. I always try to get a window seat with the view of the ocean that faces the direction that the train is traveling in. This is a view of a pier from my seat. I apologize for the lack of quality.

My family arrived in Oceanside about an hour before my train was scheduled to depart, so we decided to head onto the pier to walk and check it out before taking me to the station. Here's a view from the pier, while I was on the pier. There were so many fishing poles along the rails that people left there. As you can see, there are carvings of names on the wooden railings. However, I don't know their significance. Perhaps they're names of donors who paid for the boardwalk to be built?

Also, if you look in the distance, you can see that the ocean separates from a blue-green colored section to a dark blue one. This is probably due to depth, but there was such a distinct disparity between the two areas. I thought it was cool.

Just some palm trees. Classic Southern California.

Here's another view of the ocean from my seat on the train. I really enjoy taking the train. It's relaxing as I listen to music and watch the ocean pass by.

What are your thoughts on riding on the train?

April Favorites

Hi World!

It's a little late, but it's that time of the month again!... not the one you're prolly thinking of, but to clarify, it's monthly favorites time! I had a lot last month, so let's get started.

Artist

Beyonce

(Source)
I've always had mad respect for Beyonce. Her stage presence is like no other and her voice is incredible. However, I've never really listened to her music other than her most popular songs like, "Irreplaceable," "Halo," and "Single Ladies." After my sister announced that she was going to go to a Beyonce concert in May (I'm very jealous), she decided to try and familiarize herself with Beyonce's discography, especially the songs on "Beyonce" and the recently released "Lemonade." As a result, I've bought a number of her songs on iTunes and plan on purchasing many more. Queen B has some incredible ballads and just kickass songs in general. I've really enjoyed listening to more of her music.

Honorable mention: Rihanna

(Source)
On a different note, I've listened to a lot more Rihanna in the past than I have Beyonce. She's really great too. But seeing as I listened to a number of Beyonce throwbacks like "Irreplaceable," I managed to find and listen to throwback Rihanna songs like "Unfaithful," "Take A Bow," and "California King Bed" too. Again, I'm all about those ballads.

Slay, queens.

Song

"Love On Top" by Beyonce

Back to Beyonce, this song is such a jam. I've had it on repeat since I bought it on iTunes. Her multiple key changes throughout the song show off her amazing vocal range and it's such a fun song to sing and dance along to. You best believe I've danced around in my room to this song countless times. It's also an excellent tune to lip-sync to. My cousin, who loves Beyonce more than anyone I've ever known, always sings this song during karaoke at family parties. It's her go-to song and now I understand why. Take a listen and bless your ears! It's also a fun, feel-good song to strut to class to. Lord knows I've done it many, many times.

Honorable mention: "I Get To Love You" by Ruelle

"Love On Top" is an great upbeat love song, while this one just tugs at the heartstrings. It's so beautiful. A perfect wedding song. I'd love to be able to feel the kind of love that's described in this song towards someone in the future. Hopeless romantics, where you at? I discovered "I Get To Love You" when it was playing on "The Vampire Diaries" during a scene between Stefan and Valerie in season 7, episode 18. Ruelle's voice portrays a certain grace and serenity and it makes me feel nice things. Chills. This song was on repeat throughout the month as well, especially late at night, and ugh, let me warn you, it may bring you to tears. Happy tears, I hope. *sniffles*

Website

BuzzFeed

(Source)
Oh my goodness, BuzzFeed is so much fun. My sister has been OBSESSED with this website for forever now. Whenever I'd see her on the computer, she would have 15689489489 tabs open and I never understood why... until now. I do BuzzFeed quizzes every day and check out any articles that catch my eye. I actually learn a lot from what I find here. Highly recommend. The quizzes are great to play and then compare your results with other people. I particularly love to compare my results on the astrology quizzes with my friends.

Social Media Account

@solo_in_europe on Instagram

My friend Austin spent about three weeks backpacking in Europe, travelling solo, and it was definitely one of my favorite parts about April. He Instagrammed basically everything he saw and it was All. So. Cool. His posts were very much the highlights of my day. I would normally wake up to his posts. Like I would literally be excited to sleep so that I could wake up and see what else he got up to while I was sleeping. Sometimes, he would post like seven at time. I wasn't even mad. I was like, keep it coming dude! I want to see everything!

He went to numerous cities including Venice, Florence, Athens, and Edinburgh. His pictures were actually really good. Not to say that they wouldn't have been, but I was pretty impressed by his photography. One of his sisters pointed this out in the comments of one of his posts and I very much agreed with her. His family members commenting on his photos was both hilarious and adorable. I'm so proud of him for going on his trip (it was a long time coming) and also very jealous. The wanderlust was too real last month. Thanks, Austin. I really want to study abroad now (which ain't a bad thing). Anywho, I'm just really glad he decided to make an Instagram and allow his friends and family to live vicariously through his pictures. He hasn't posted much since his trip ended, but you can check him out on Instagram and view the snapshots of his European adventures.

YouTube Channel

My friend Rachel introduced me to Leroy Sanchez one day when she texted me saying that she liked his cover of "The Feeling" by Justin Bieber feat. Halsey. Since that day, I've been obsessed. That night, I watched video after video on his channel. I continue to listen to his covers while I do homework. His originals aren't bad either. "Little Dancer" is really cute. His voice is incredible. I mean he can do some awesome vocal runs and just make songs sound so pretty. He's Spanish. He's got blue eyes. He's good-looking AND talented. How? Just how. His cover of "The Feeling" was the first one I watched of his and I do really like it. But I also like the other cover he did with Jessica Sanchez for "1+1" by Beyonce, among others. He also does covers in Spanish too and they're beautiful too. He's just great.

Dance

Remember how I mentioned that I really liked dancing and loved choreography? Well, my siblings have been finding and watching dance videos on Twitter and YouTube, but one choreographer that stood out to them was Matt Steffanina. They introduced me to his channel and I am so glad they did (thanks, sibs!). His dance routines are awesome and are so much fun to do. I've currently learned the choreo to "Worth It" and "Work From Home" by Fifth Harmony as well as the routine for "Slow Motion" by Trey Songz. The "Slow Motion" choreo is definitely one of my favorite dances by Matt. His recent Justin Bieber choreo are all really cool too so I'll prolly try and learn those soon. Maybe you'll see me dance to some of these routines on my Instagram one of these days. I've been having so much fun learning choreo and dancing all the time. It can get exhausting though. After like two runs of a routine, I'm winded. But again, it's so much fun for me.

Side note: I've been watching this year's season of "The Amazing Race" and although I'm rooting for Tyler Oakley and Korey Kuhl, I wouldn't be that mad if Matt and Dana won.

What were some of your April favorites?

Weekly Wednesday Snap | Spring Ducklings

Hi World!

Don't know what a Weekly Wednesday Snap is? Click HERE.

Hope your Wednesday has been swell! I took this little snap today when I was walking back from class to my dorm. A couple weeks ago, this mama duck and her adorable ducklings have been waddling around the residence area on campus and they never fail to fill my heart with joy. I mean, look at them. They're so cute. The ducklings' tiny feet scuttle so quickly while they walk. They've been featured on far too many snap stories, but I guess their cuteness makes it okay... almost. And it is pretty funny to see people whip out their phones to take the same snap as they follow this little family around. They're like paparazzi for these famous ducks.

Super short post today, but I just wanted to you to meet our resident duck fam. Hope it made you smile or feel some sort of warm fuzzies.

Have you spotted any cute animals lately?
